About the author

Janice Tranter is a Sister of St Joseph, Lochinvar. She holds a Master’s degree from the University of Newcastle. After joining the Sisters and teaching in Josephite Secondary Schools she pursued her interest in Josephite history and in Tenison Woods, networking with other Josephite writers and the Sisters of Perpetual Adoration. As opportunity has arisen she has continued to write, having many articles published, including work on the Irish membership of the Josephite congregations. She is a member of the Conference of Josephite Leaders History Committee.

Short Description of the book

This collection, written over thirty-five years, shares insight into the life and legacy of Fr Woods. Each article is woven into his human journey as priest, founder, friend or all three aspects. It is written from the point of view of a member of the Lochinvar Josephite congregation, whose pioneers left an enduring ownership of Fr Woods as founder. The writer has a conviction of the indestructible unity of heart in all Sisters of St Joseph springing from the Penola-Adelaide foundation, all drawn into the fire struck in the hearts of Mary MacKillop and Julian Tenison Woods at Penola.
