Unam Sanctam

Unam Sanctam is a book series devoted to the brilliant generation of Catholic thinkers who inspired a renaissance in twentieth-century Catholic theology and made a decisive contribution at the Second Vatican Council. The principal figures were predominantly though not exclusively French-speaking and included leading Dominicans and Jesuits who contributed to what became known as the nouvelle théologie. By retrieving the biblical, patristic and medieval riches of the Catholic tradition (ressourcement), the movement sought to reform and to revitalise the Church, to promote a richer evangelisation, and to enable a more effective redemptive engagement with the contemporary world (aggiornamento). International in scope, the series will offer new editions and translations of texts as well as studies that examine the history of the nouvelle théologie, its exponents, supporters, and opponents. It will also publish works attempting to do for the present age what the ressourcement theologians did for their time.
