Description
Leopold Verguet was an artistic young Frenchman who entered the Society to be part of the Oceania Mission. He was sent as part of the first group into the Solomons in 1845. Along the way he visited Australia, New Zealand, and New Caledonia sketching and painting as he went. He encountered such horrors that he decided he could not continue as a missionary and he, and his sketchbook returned to France. The book tells the tale of the tragedies and reproduces his pictures and letters.
